About This Project

Sheave tower for undisclosed client

Fabrication works of a sheave tower to be used in the offshore industry, the tower is to facilitate the positioning of a roller sheave at roughly 7m above the main deck of the vessel. The arm on which the sheave is to be mounted also needs to be hinged, can rotate 90 degrees around the vertical axis. The entire tower was engineered and design by our sister company Saltwater Engineering.

The tower includes an access ladder to allow the crew to access the sheave safely. Furthermore the tower can be broken down into smaller sections for transport. This resulted in several flanged and bolted connections that needed to be aligned accordingly.

Challenges and solutions

The biggest challenge that needed to be overcome was the extremely short delivery time that was requested by our client. Only 7 days were available from first quote to final delivery of the sheave tower. In this time frame the procurement of the steel profile, machining, welding, nondestructive testing (NDT), load testing and painting need to be completed. Working with our partners in the local area we managed to acquire and fabricate everything within the time.
